Andromeda are very hardy. Their small bell shaped flowers cover them in springtime. They have wiry stems with narrow elliptic leathery leaves. Requires acid soil. They are found in the northern hemisphere in Asia and as far east as Japan, Europe and North America. You might know them by the name Bog Rosemary. They spread by underground runners. The best cultivars are from Japan. Hardy to USDA Zone 3 (-40 degrees F) and some say Zone 2. |
