A natural hybrid between P. empetriformis and P. glanduliflora which occurs frequently in the wild where the two species grow together.

6-9” tall by 12” wide or so. Flowers are on hairy stalks about 1/2 to 3/4” long. It blooms in April heliotrope colored flowers.

Hardy, but needs protection from the afternoon sun in summer.  If the roots get too hot, they die.  Need good drainage.  Can be a fussy plant which is typical of alpines. Easy to grow in pots for us as drainage is good. Grows in Idaho.

This is a rare plant in the garden.
